Magazines Are The Gift That Keeps On Giving
I just recently found a gift for a senior citizen that I had not thought of – magazine subscription! No, subscriptions in their own right were not a surprise to me, but the plethora of great magazines for senior citizens was a big surprise.
Giving a magazine subscription is a gift that keeps on giving for at least as long as you got the subscription for. And, your senior citizen loved one is guaranteed to think of you at least once a month when the magazine arrives!
Magazines are also relatively inexpensive so they’re great stocking stuffers. And, since senior citizen attention span may wane, magazines are the perfect vehicle as the articles are short and they’re usually filled with pictures.
Please note: it may take 6-8 weeks for a new magazine subscription to be processed. I used to like to buy just one issue and wrap it up as a birthday or Christmas present with a note about the subscription.

Magazines to trigger memories
These type of reading material are fantastic gifts for those with Alzheimer’s or Dementia. Frequently, only the short term memory is afflicted so your elderly loved one might really enjoy a trip down memory lane with these conversation starting magazines. I used to read them along with my own elderly mom and then we’d have wonderful sessions where she’d tell me stories.
You can’t buy memories like that. These type of magazines are great for any elderly loved one.

Travel Magazines
These were one of our favorite magazines. Mom and Dad traveled a lot so I got to hear stories about their trip to Russia, Egypt, Israel along with many other places. These travel magazines might provide a window to the world for those no longer able to travel.
