My Mom started using gripper socks a long time ago.

At first, I bought her fluffy socks without grips on the bottom, but a nurse told me that I was inviting trouble.

Instead of causing her to lose her balance (she shuffled her feet a lot and I was concerned that the grips on the bottom of the socks would trip her up), the gripper socks proved to steady her while walking. Who knew?

And, the older Mom got, the crazier her socks got. There’s very few things as we age that continue to be fun, but, luckily, socks can be pretty interesting.

We rarely made it through a crowd without some admiring words for her socks when I wheeled her around the mall.

Some of Mom’s favorite socks are below – these worked well in all types of temperatures as her feet were always chilly. In the dead of winter though, she turned to her Heat Holder’s Non-Skid Grip socks (you can click that link to go to another article just about these great socks).

Gripper socks are a perfect Christmas stocking stuffer (pun fully intended). Traction socks come in many different varieties starting with the shortest that go right below the ankle to the tallest which, to be quite honest, aren’t a whole lot taller!

Taller Ankle Height Slipper Socks

My Mom preferred these slightly taller non-skid grip socks. She particularly loved the first one below (the Kissable gripper socks) although we never quite understood the lavender scent thing – they smelled like regular old socks to us! They were incredibly soft though.

Slipper Booties With Gripper Bottoms

Slipper booties with gripper bottoms  are a bit heavier and warmer than regular gripper socks. My Mom’s feet were always ice cold during the winter so I moved her up into these gripper booties. After that, she was toasty warm.
