Ok, this is not so much a great gift for very elderly senior citizens as it’s a great gift for those who might be caring for a senior citizen – keyless door locks are just great.

When I was my mom’s caregiver, I had to hire professional caregivers to help me out as there were times that I was just lost in what to do. So, I gave out a lot of house keys and, sometimes, with very short notice, I’d give a ‘caregiver’ the boot – never to see my key again.

After a few visits with my friendly locksmith, it dawned on me that one of these keyless door locks would be just what we needed.

As I hired new caregivers, I’d set a code for them and, as they quit or I fired them, I just deleted their individual key code. Voila! My home was instantly secure again!

I love these locks, even now that Mom is no longer with me. In fact, with the use of this lock and my new car that doesn’t have a key, I no longer even carry a keyring! Such freedom from looking for lost keys all the time.

One word of warning though; if you’re dealing with a dementia or Alzheimer’s patient who might be left alone, think twice about putting something on their door that they have to remember a code for. They might get locked out and can’t get back in.

Don’t worry if the lever is on the wrong side of the door lock for your particular door; most of these door handles are reversible.
