Keep Track Of Comings And Goings With Erasable Calendars

When Mom first came to live with me, she was able to stay alone during the day while I continued on with my day job. As time progressed, I was more comfortable hiring a paid caregiver to stay with her during the day.

When that just didn’t work out, I quit my day job and became Mom’s caregiver full time.

As every caregiver will find out at some point or other, it’s incredibly important to take care of yourself first – I know, I know, how the heck do you do that without support?

That’s when you turn to your family and friends to help out. But, you really need to keep a written schedule of who’s coming in when. That’s when I found the white board erasable calendars below.

Erasable calendars will be your best friend in your caregiving journey. Not only did I keep the schedule up to date with the names and numbers of the other caregivers, but, we caregivers would use the white board to record notes such as ‘Mom ate mayonnaise at lunch….watch out!’

Tip: Add phone numbers of the various caregivers to the erasable calendar then take a picture on your smart phone so you’ll always have the information handy.

Load Up On Erasable Markers For The Calendar

I would color code the relief caregivers and the times they would come in – Carina was green, I was red, Sharyn was blue – etc. Color coding made it very easy, at a glance, to see who was coming in next. I suggest having one colored erasable marker for each person.
