Large Tote Bags Can Be A Caregiver’s Best Friend
It seemed like, the older Mom got, the more stuff I needed to carry with me when we’d go out. My purse was no longer large enough to tuck in her lunch pills, a few extra hygiene items, and insurance information which I kept on me at all times. I needed a tote.
Tote bags come in all sorts of sizes and flavors. I suggest buying a bag that is a little bigger than you need so you can ‘grow into it’ as the need arises. You also might want to reserve a section for you, the caregiver, and stash items like a favorite book or a few snacks like granola bars or crackers.
During the times that Mom was in the hospital, I was right there beside her so my tote bag floweth over with items both of us needed, including fresh pajamas for me. That old tote bag served us both well.
And, my favorite tote bag of all wasn’t so much a bag as a basket – the Reisenthal basket seen below. The thing holds a ton, and I love that it’s open so easy to find anything I needed. I use it every day around the house as I carry items from one room to another.
