As is typical of those in advanced years, my Mom’s personal hygiene was more and more difficult for her to keep up, particularly being hygienic after using the toilet.. Her arthritic hands and arms just made it difficult (and painful!) to perform activities that, in the past, were second nature. In fact, I took over most of her grooming including showers, washing hair, and, yes, helping her on and off the toilet.

Not to be too graphic, but, I found that toilet paper was way too irritating for her thin skin and, in fact, could actually give her a rash. I switched over to baby wipes which worked ok but clogged my septic system up something fierce.
