DIY Greet Cards Are A Fun Activity For An Elderly Loved One

Helping the elderly make DIY (do-it-yourself) greeting cards is time well spent actually doing something productive.

After all, how much Judge Judy can one watch (Mom used to call these type of shows, ‘Who’s the baby daddy’ shows….).

Isn’t it a much nicer idea to sit down and make some greeting cards and have a nice chat about memories? Your elderly loved one will absolutely love both gifts….

Making greeting cards is a very soothing, relaxing activity. You might find that those with Alzheimer’s or dementia really recognize their creative side again. Particularly for those folks who love crafts (ie, scrapbooking), putting together greeting cards is a very satisfying activity.

And, imagine the joy for years to come to opening a treasure box to find a DIY greeting card that Grandma or Grandpa actually made specifically for you or your children or their children, etc.

The greeting cards may not be fancy or even especially well made; they’re just special enough because they were handmade by your elderly loved one. In fact, creating DIY greeting cards is a wonderful craft activity not only for the elderly but for the whole family.

BTW: That’s my own Grandpa Moses (aka, my Dad) doing a watercolor that is one of my most cherished items.
