Plus Guard Your ID Roller Stamp, PinkCheck PriceMost of us realize that the elderly are frequently the targets of identity theft and fraud, and that’s why I’m suggesting the Plus Guard ID Roller Stamp in this post.
Paper Shredders are one option in the war against identity theft, but, if your folks or grandparents are like I am, I don’t like having to drag a paper shredder out (who wants it sitting by the kitchen table where I go through my mail?!), loading the paper to be shredded only to find that the thing jammed – again. One small staple and my old paper shredder was dead….again. Incredibly frustrating for me, let alone an elderly loved one. Now, I do realize that the newer paper shredders go right through staples and even credit cards, I just haven’t bought one yet….
Instead, I decided to go low tech, and I bought that roller stamp you see there to the left to guard my ID – the thing is magnificent! I particularly like that it’s easy to use and so will your elderly parents or grandparents. It’s also the exact right size and price to go into a Christmas stocking.
All your elderly loved one needs to do to protect their ID with this roller stamp is to roll it right over pertinent information such as name, address, account numbers, etc. The black ink covers anything it touches. When they’re done, the roller retracts right into the thing so there’s no mess, no fuss.
The ink lasts for 160′ (that’s a lot of ink). I haven’t run out yet and I’ve used it to protect my ID for over a year. Supposedly though, the replacement cartridges are easy to swap out.
This ID protection device comes in 4 different outside colors – blue, green, pink or white. All have the same black ink though.
Note: this roller does not work on gloss paper as it’s an oil based ink and will just smear off. So, for shipping labels and other glossy items, a paper shredder is still the way to go (there’s a few good ones listed below). Also, reviewers note that you can see the address right through – I haven’t had this issue – at all. The only problem I had was being over zealous and got the ink on my white sweatshirt – bad move. No way that ink is budging.

Paper Shredders
Paper shredders work quite well to protect one one’s ID and guard against identity theft. As mentioned above though, they come with their share of problems. If I have to use one though, I prefer one of these micro-shredders which make teeny tiny paper pieces that are impossible to put back together. I like that these also shred credit cards:
