Cashmere Cardigans Keep Your Senior Friend Nice And Toasty During Chilly Weather

I had a good question posted on this website about where to find bed jackets or cashmere cardigans for men. As I started to think about it, this was an excellent question so I started investigating – I can’t find bed jackets for men!

I’m not at all sure why bed jackets aren’t made for men as, surely, they would be helpful, particularly to bed ridden elderly men.

So, during my research, I turned my attention to finding cashmere cardigans for men. I was more successful with this quest.

The cashmere cardigans I found are made of the softest cashmere and can easily be worn over pajamas in bed. I particularly like that cashmere is a very lightweight material so should be easily worn, even by those who need lightweight clothes.

A cardigan is the preferred type of sweater for elderly men as there is no need to raise the arms and pull the sweater over your gentleman’s head, like a V-neck would. Just slip it on and button it up – good to go! Additionally, the softness of the cashmere should not cause irritation to thinning skin and should provide just the right amount of warmth so that a caregiver won’t broil while their charge is comfortable (a constant battle when one is a caregiver….).

Beware though, cashmere is never a cheap material and the cardigans below prove that! Your elderly love one will love you even more though for being thoughtful enough to give him one of these beautiful cashmere sweaters.

Note: Cashmere can be hand washed separately at home instead of dry cleaning. To do the home washing, I buy a mild detergent (I use baby shampoo for my cashmere items), and have a few fluffy towels nearby. I fill a sink with warm water and add the shampoo right to the water. Next, I submerge my cashmere sweater and swish it around for about 5 minutes or so. I let the water do the work as I never scrub or scrunch the sweater – just swish it around. I then drain the water and fill the tub up again with clean warm water for the rinse. Never ever squeeze or pull the sweater as this can cause it to stretch and lose its shape. Instead, I loosely ball up the sweater and gently push it against the side of the tub to get as much water out of the garment as possible. I then lay the sweater out flat on my fluffiest towel and smooth any wrinkles. I roll the towel up which squeezes out additional water. Finally, I will either lie the sweater flat on another towel, shaping it as I go or, alternatively, it can be laid out on a drying rack.

Cashmere V-Neck Cardigan Vests

Perhaps your elderly gentleman friend would prefer a V-neck vest. My father used to report that these types of sweaters had just the right amount of warmth for a warmer climate.
