Flameless Christmas Candles Bring Holiday Spirit Right Into Your Senior Citizen’s Living Quarters

Regardless of whether or not your elderly friend is on oxygen, having open candle flames around the house should be a no-no. The risk of fire is just too great.

So, how do you get the soft glow of candlelight bringing an inviting atmosphere into any room? You use flameless Christmas candles!

Flameless candles work on batteries. Most have timers so that you can set them to come on at 5 pm – they will turn themselves off 6 hours later. Some flameless candles even have a remote if your elderly loved one would prefer. I honestly wouldn’t get the remote candles as you’ll always be looking for that remote.

Flameless Christmas Candles come in basically two varieties; moving wick (which I prefer) or static wick.

The moving wick candles do as they say – while the candle light is on, the wick moves like a real candle. It casts the exact same shadow upon the wall as a real candle.

The non-moving wick are just that – the wick stays in the same place. The candle still does throw a nice shadow but it’s because the candle itself flickers.

These are my favorite candles and, the Luminara candles just can’t be beat for quality and scent. The white are usually vanilla, red are cinnamon and green are pine. There’s also unscented Luminaras, but it’s a light pleasant scent and non-objectionable to most folks.

How about replacing all those wired Christmas tapers in the windows with a set of the Luminara tapers? Much safer and no danger of tripping on cords.
