Induction Cooktops Reduce The Chance Of Fire And Burns In The Kitchen

I know that, when my parents were still living alone, I worried about them leaving the stove on when they were finished cooking. But, at the same time, I certainly appreciated knowing that they were still eating home cooked meals and not out in a restaurant every day.

Mom cooked all the way up until she was 90 when she moved in with me after Dad died. Their gas stove always gave me pause though; I’d even call after dinner to make sure it was off. Note: Metal pans are a must when using an induction cooktops; if the pots and pans are not metal, they simply will not work. It’s best to make sure that there is a dedicated outlet for the induction cooktop – you don’t want to overload an outlet or pop a circuit breaker when it’s being used.

Another nice thing about an induction cooktop is that they can be used anywhere there is an electrical outlet. They’re great for those in wheelchairs as the cooktop can be placed on a low table so it’s easier to reach.
