Snap-Front House Coats Are The Perfect Lounge Wear For An Elderly Loved One

My own mom had about 6 of the snap-front house coats like the ones I’m about to show you.

Mom’s favorite housecoats had pockets in the front as it was much easier for her to fish out the always present tissues. Side pockets in her duster house coat were ok for when she was standing but, as she aged, that was less and less of the time. If there were a Lazy-Gal recliner, we would have owned it….

House coats are, by their very nature, light in weight. They’re really meant to be worn in warmer climates all year round although I did find some flannel snap-front housecoats which you’ll see below.

Here in MD, I switched mom’s housecoats for heavier robes in the winter. When I brought her housecoats back to her closet, that was a sign to her that Spring was just around the corner.

Housecoats are not only very comfortable, but they are also very forgiving when it comes to stains. Mom dropped a lot of coffee and food on her’s – a quick spray with ‘Shout’ laundry spray, a wash, and a dry and we were back in business.

Housecoats come in a few varieties: there’s snap-front or zipper. We always preferred the snap front as it was easier for mom to dress herself – she had a heck of a time trying to get a zipper to work.
