As Dad aged, his body chemistry made him get cold much easier than when he was younger. In fact, as a youngster, I rarely remember seeing Dad in a heavy coat or jacket. All he needed to stay warm even in snowy weather was a lightweight vest.

But, when Dad was in his 80’s, he mentioned that he needed a lightweight vest or jacket to wear all the time, even indoors. Couple the change in his body temperature with the fact that he wasn’t as active and Dad was an icicle most of the time when he wasn’t dressed in a long sleeve shirt and lightweight vest. In fact, he usually emerged from his bedroom in his pajamas, robe and vest! He might have been bundled up against the ‘cold’ temperatures in Phoenix, AZ but he was at least warm!

So, it was easy to find the perfect Fathers Day present for Dad – I simply took to Amazon and researched lightweight vests for men and, voila – into my shopping cart went one or two beautiful new vests to keep him nice and toasty.

Now that my Dad is gone, I still don one of his vests periodically to shield me against chilly temperatures. And, something about putting on one of Dad’s beloved vests, makes me feel closer to him.
