A Portable Folding Stool Provides A Seat Whenever Your Senior Citizen Friend Needs One
For those with limited mobility, the thought of going out of the house can evoke apprehension and worry. With no public benches or seats in sight, they might become overwhelmed with having to continue to stand on their legs when their legs have a different idea….
And, with the country working its way through the pandemic of Covid-19, a lot of us elders find ourselves having to stand in line – social distancing all the time of course!
That’s why having a portable folding seat to rest those weary bones upon can change a trip from horrible to bearable, or even to enjoyable.
Even a short trip to a grocery store can be daunting to those who have arthritic knees, like my own Mom had. But, if a portable folding stool is around for the ride, a seat can be ready for your elderly loved one in a short moment.
Types Of Portable Folding Stools
There’s a myriad of different portable folding stools on the market. My favorite are the portable stools that masquerade as canes! No need to carry a separate stool when your cane will do.
And, some folding stools have telescopic legs so that they can accommodate the shortest to the tallest senior citizen.
Whichever type of portable seat you choose for your elderly loved one, make sure that it is capable of bearing their weight. Below, you will find I’ve separated out some bariatric choices of folding seats.
Portable folding stools are lightweight yet incredibly sturdy and strong, not to mention comfortable to sit upon. They’re even good for some beach sitting!

I was looking for a folding stool, with or without a cane or crutch for an elderly person with bad knees.
A seat height of 30″ would be perfect for them to rest without having to sit all the way down, because then it is hard to get up.
It would have to be lightweight and support at least 250 lbs.
Do you have anything like that? 24″ seat height is too low.

Hi, Pat and thanks for the question. Everything on this website is on Amazon.com – I personally don’t sell physical product.
I looked on Amazon and don’t see any folding portable stools that have a seat 30″ or higher; most are 22″ or so. I’m wondering if a taller seat might not be as stable? Anyway, sorry but I’m not successful in finding what you need. I will continue looking though!

I am looking for a stool for where I work as a cashier. Counter is 36 in. Is there any for that height?
Lori Burdoo says
Hi, Deborah. I don’t actually sell products; I direct folks to Amazon where they purchase from there. I did do a quick search on Amazon and think your best bet might be something like a director’s chair: https://www.amazon.com/Flexzion-Directors-Professional-Foldable-Furniture/dp/B016UH2SQ0/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1530203201&sr=8-15&keywords=portable+tall+stools

I’ve been looking everywhere to find attachable wheels for a lightweight, folding chair I bought (like a camping chair) but to no avail. Does anyone know how I can buy removable wheels (or even one) I can attach and take off when I want to sit down?
Lori Burdoo says
Never heard of a wheeled camping chair. I’m not sure how safe that would be if it were for an elderly person. I looked online and don’t really see anything like that. Sorry.

Your comment couldn’t have been more timely. I’ve lost interest in the site and it shows with all the broken links.
A dear 92 year old friend died of Covid last week. I’ve been thinking of adding some articles about how to care for those afflicted. Your comment has spurred me on. I will start in on the site to bring it back to its previous glory.
Thank you!
