Cookery Postcards from Penguin: 100 Cookbook Covers in One Box
A Postcard A Day….Can Make An Elderly Loved One’s Day
One of the hardest things as we age is losing friends and family who have gone before us. Frequently, the elderly are isolated, lonely, and sad for days at a time.
Just think of the joy receiving a small piece of mail, such as a postcard, may bring. In fact, it might be the only joy a senior citizen friend receives a day – the joy from knowing they were though of…by you.
Most of these collections contain 100 cards; why not pick up a few different boxes for family members and cover the entire year? How special is that?!
Postcards are great for a few reasons:
- No long letter need be penned. Just 2 or 3 sentences are enough to remind your senior citizen friend that you’re thinking of him or her
- There are no envelopes to open so it can be easier of arthritic hands
- The Postal fee for a postcard is just $.35 (yes, that’s just 35 cents)! They certainly won’t break the bank!
- International mailing fees are $1.15 for a postcard. Ok, so maybe Granny gets one a month….
I particularly love the Cookery Postcards that you see above. This particular collection reproduces the covers of famous cookbooks. If your senior citizen fan was a cook, she’ll love these!

Stamps For Postcards
Make it easy and pre-stamp the postcards so you’ll be ready to go. Write a few sentiments and walk to the mailbox. How much easier can it be?

Pens For Arthritis Sufferers
If you’re like me and the ability to hold a slim pen is difficult (and your writing is too…), these pens might be the answer. Mom and I both had Pen Again pens and loved them.

You can also have some address labels printed up which makes it easy to get your daily postcard sent. Stick on that stamp (I recommend the Forever postcard stamps in case of future postal price increases) and stick on the label.
