A Letter To My Visitors:
The website Good Gifts For Senior Citizens came about through necessity. You see, for the 5 years after my Dad’s death in 2007, I was my elderly Mother’s caregiver.
I like to say that Mom and I had a nice long run together – we shared a few sorrows, had a lot of happy hours, and shared secrets and laughs over those 5 years. I was privileged to be able to have her remain with me in my own home until her death in my arms February 15, 2012.
During those years of being my Mom’s caregiver, I learned many things – some I discovered through trial and error and some came naturally to me.
The things I intuitively knew about caregiving were particularly interesting to me as I have no children (by design), so I really must have had an innate understanding of how the human body works – Ah, but, not always – for example, it took me quite a while to put together a list of foods and their reactions in my Mom’s tummy.
Introducing just a teaspoonful of mayonnaise to her tuna sandwich could bring about a disastrous effect on her digestive system (diarrhea).
Dignity Ware Green 2-Handled TeapotA lot of items on this web page are practical gifts for senior citizens which are geared toward items to help Mom remain as independent as possible like that yellow two handed tea pot which is great for arthritic hands.
You’ll also find talking watches and pendants, adaptive bathroom need such as toilet seat risers (I didn’t even know these existed, but I sure was thankful the day I found them!).
And, then, of course, you’ll also find some wonderful gifts for the elderly loved one who has everything. Items such as large format puzzles, memory books, and wonderful day clocks which tell not only the time of day but the day of week also!
So, I’ve created www.GoodGiftsForSeniorCitizens.com in the hopes of giving other caregivers a look at the products that worked for my Mom and me. And, although Mom is now gone, my quest to help other caregivers and their elderly charges continues.
So, make sure to bookmark my site as it will be ever evolving. If there’s a question or comment you’d like to leave me, please click that Contact link above. I’ll try to get right back to you.
Thanks for dropping in and happy shopping. Please give your elderly loved one a hug and a kiss from me. Lori
